Tamron has just launched Tamron University, a completely free online learning platform for photographers and filmmakers at all levels. Right now, Tamron University is offering four masterclasses across a variety of imaging genres, with each class taught by a pro in their field.

The platform delivers practical, video-based lessons divided into smaller lessons that you can follow at your own pace. And since each class is free, it’s especially helpful if you want to sharpen your photography skills but are tired of seeing photography courses that cost hundreds—or even thousands—of dollars!

What Courses are Being Offered by Tamron?

Tamron says that the classes are designed to inspire creatives while still offering real-world advice. The topics covered include gear choice (especially about Tamron lenses), creative approach, business philosophy, and post-production workflow.

At launch, there are four full courses (1–1.5 hours each) available now:

  • The Art of Storytelling with Erica Robinson
  • Nature Photography with Kurt Gardner (shot partly at Yosemite)
  • Commercial & Celebrity Portraiture with Hernan Rodriguez
  • The Art of Photographing Birds with David Akoubian

And five more classes will roll out soon (The launch date is not announced yet.):

  • Capturing The Night Skies with Sean Parker
  • The Creative Photographer with Michael Gilbert
  • Documentary Filmmaking with André Costantini
  • Cinematic Halloween Horror with Jonathan Thorpe
  • Adventure Filmmaking with Charley Voorhis

How to Join the Tamron University Masterclasses

While there are no upfront costs, you'll need to register on Thinkific to access the classes. Four photography courses are open right now: Visit Tamron University's Thinkific page to enroll.
